“Selda Bağcan is a Turkish folk music singer, composer and politic activist. She experimented with rock and roll and with synthetic and electronic sounds in her LPs, although her musical style remained firmly rooted in the folk tradition.”

Her protest style and leftist, socialist political views both in lyrical and activist means brought her a great support from the public yet caused many troubles with the military and governmental authorities. She has been one of the most effective names in Turkish Folk and Folk Rock music for years.

Selda Bağcan is famous for her psychedelic take on Turkish folk music. After performing in the Netherlands festival Le Guess Who?, organisers announced the release of a live album including the track below, “Adaletin bu mu Dunya?”
