Music to Heal, Connect and Feel by Fred Westra

“As a 5 year old kid I heard my parents play the music of Ennio Morricone’s Once Upon a Time in the West, what beautiful music! Since then, the music of Ennio Morricone has been the greatest inspiration for me.”

Fred Westra is a member of our community with a unique story as well as a composer of yoga, meditation, relaxation, Reiki and massage music. He started as a metal/hard rock guitar player in 90’s and transitioned into music that heals over the years. You can read this transition from his own words below:

“I was a very dedicated hard rock/heavy metal guitarist. My guitar playing was very loud and fast which resulted in a worldwide record deal with my band Xhausted back in 1997.  In the year 2000, my wife started to give yoga lessons and she asked me if I could compose music for her. This is where my love for composing yoga and meditation music started. I noticed that when I recorded metal music my body would be full of adrenaline, and at the end of the sessions I would have headaches. When I recorded yoga music I felt calm and more open. In the end, composing yoga music is the most rewarding to me with growing and learning as a composer and as a spiritual human being. One thing I learned through music: There is always a solution for everything.”

He just released a new album, including a song produced using our vocal collection. You can find all of his music through his youtube channel and website. You can also listen to his album pieces through Spotify below.
