Smartmidi creates realism and dynamism of midi performances through algorithm. This removes the requirement for detailed sampling for real instruments and opens up the possibility of dynamism for non realistic sounds, sound effects and sound interactions without recorded timbral dynamics.

What Problems SmartMidi Solve?

This brings solutions and applicational freedom to a few use cases:
 
+ For any musical instruments or a-musical sound recording the timbral realism or interactional change in sound character does not require further content than a single snapshot. This might be single recording for a tone of an instrument instead of all layers or for non-organics, digital or modeled sounds.
 
+ While this algorithmic solution to interactional sound performances will have a major impact in music industry & production, we think codifying the realism of sound interaction between digital and real world will have a major impact to virtual reality apps and game industry. One can create realism in sound interaction instantly with the guidance of the code, scalable and preset-able. 

Why did we create it?

We have been creating sample libraries and developing music tech for years. We got frustrated by the sampling and layering process that made us feel in 90’s in addition to failing realism in midi performances of non-real instruments.
 
This frustration started the experimentation of how audio changes in character with impact  levels (timbral change). We started designing a process and over years realised this process has to be dynamic. This idea made codified timbral dynamics (smart) a reality through a dynamic algorithm within 3 years of development.
 
We think the more nano and virtual future will require a scalable way of interactional realism in sound through the collaboration of code and content where the shift towards code is crucial and inevitable.
